Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA) VISN 10 in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Medical Supply Technician (MST) in Sterile Processing Service to support the Medical Center and clinics by reprocessing reusable medical devices.

The MST will follow SOPs, apply sterilization principles, and perform decontamination, cleaning, packaging, and storage of instruments, with lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional cart movement.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience demonstrating ability to perform the work.
• One year above high school with health care related courses or equivalent.
• Equivalent combination of experience and education acceptable for entry level.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning, decontamination and sterilization of reusable medical devices.
• Assemble sets and trays for use throughout the Medical Center.
• Follow SOPs and maintain sterility of instruments.
• Move and lift items up to 50 pounds; operate carts and equipment as needed.
