Job summary

Columbia Valley Community Health Center is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician I to support the SPD with decontamination, correct assembly, and processing of instruments. The role requires knowledge of sterilization methods and universal precautions and involves adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include operating sterilization equipment, inspecting and labeling instruments, and maintaining the SPD area.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification/Licensure: BLS/CPR or ability to obtain within 90 days; eligible for Medical Assistant-Registered Licensure.
• Experience: Six months of sterile processing preferred; CRCST certification preferred.
• Essential Technical/Motor Skills: dexterity with delicate equipment; basic computer/keyboard skills.
• Interpersonal Skills: teamwork, clear communication, customer service.
• Essential Physical: ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20 pounds.
• Exposure to Hazards: work with bloodborne pathogens per OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties assigned by supervisor.
• Operates decontamination and sterilization equipment in SPD.
• Inspects, tests, packages and labels instruments for sterilization.
• Maintains and cleans SPD area and equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
• Participates in Infection Control and Environment of Care activities.
• Adheres to Joint Commission and HIPAA regulations.
