Job summary

MercyOne Northeast Iowa seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure the availability of sterile and non-sterile supplies for patient care. Duties include decontaminating equipment, preparing portable items, assembling and inspecting instruments, and maintaining proper storage and sterilization procedures.

Qualifications

• Reads, writes and understands English and communicates effectively with patients, visitors, staff.
• Minimum of 6 months experience working with surgical instruments.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates dirty equipment and supplies.
• Prepares non-sterile portable equipment and supplies for use.
• Assembles instruments and inspects them per pick card.
• Distributes and stores sterile supplies.
• Sterilizes equipment by loading/unloading carts and storing items properly.
• Adheres to safety, infection control and colleague health policies.
