Job summary

Novant Health in Greenville, SC is seeking a Sterile Reprocessing Tech to decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize instruments according to manufacturer guidelines.

You will collaborate with Clinical Coordinators and OR staff to ensure instrument availability, maintain inventories, and support patient care. Requires HS diploma or GED; Sterile Reprocessing certification is required; CBSPD/CRCST/CSPDT preferred; competency testing may be part of the role.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of experience in a hospital Sterile Reprocessing Department preferred.
  • Sterile Reprocessing Tech certification required; CBSPD, CRCST or CSPDT required.
  • Ability to validate skills and competency, read instructions, and understand medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Review surgical schedules to anticipate patient and procedure needs.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Coordinators, Inventory Control Specialists, and OR staff to ensure instrument availability.
  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments according to manufacturer guidelines and department standards.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain sterilization and reprocessing equipment while ensuring accurate documentation and quality controls.
  • Maintain instrument inventories and support efficient workflow through effective organization and resource management.
  • Follow safety protocols and utilize PPE when handling contaminated instruments and hazardous materials.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and assist with onboarding and training new team members.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, intra-op staff, leadership, and UCIC to resolve issues and support patient care.

What We Offer

Responsible for providing clean, properly packaged, sterile instruments and supplies to meet individual customer needs.

Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with scheduled workdays varying based on departmental needs.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Experience: One year of experience in a hospital Sterile Reprocessing Department, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Sterile Reprocessing Tech certification, required. CBSPD, CRCST or CSPDT, required.
  • Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions to assemble instrument sets and trays. Ability to learn and understand medical terminology. Maintains Sterile Processing Technician certification.
