Job summary

LewisGale Medical Center, part of the HCA Healthcare family, is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure instruments are cleaned, sterilized, and ready for surgery. You will support nurses and surgeons, maintain safety standards, and contribute to high-quality patient care.

The role requires Sterile Processing Certification within 18 months and at least 1 year in Central Sterile, with knowledge of hospital equipment and medical terminology to ensure efficient operating room readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in Central Sterile Supply department preferred.
• Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST or CSPDT) within 18 months of employment.
• Knowledge of hospital equipment, supplies, surgical instrumentation, and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and organizing surgical instruments and supplies following safety standards
• Monitoring sterilization cycles, documenting results, and resolving issues promptly to deliver safe, high-quality care
• Preparing and organizing instrument trays and surgical rooms based on daily schedule and procedural needs
• Safely handling and disposing of biohazardous materials while keeping the work area clean and organized
• Working closely with nurses and surgeons to anticipate needs and support smooth, efficient surgeries

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Sterile Processing Technician, you'll play a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality surgical care by making sure every instrument is thoroughly cleaned, sterilized, and ready when needed. Your focus on safety and attention to detail helps protect patients and empowers a team that’s committed to the care and improvement of human life – one surgery at a time.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and organizing surgical instruments and supplies following safety standards
• Monitoring sterilization cycles, documenting results, and resolving issues promptly to deliver on our commitment to safe, high-quality care
• Preparing and organizing instrument trays and surgical rooms based on the daily schedule and procedural needs
• Safely handling and disposing of biohazardous materials while keeping the work area clean and organized
• Working closely with nurses and surgeons to anticipate needs and support smooth, efficient surgeries

What qualifications you will need:

• Minimum of 1 year experience in Central Sterile Supply department is preferred to include: Proper identification of instruments and preparation of trays for Operating Room use
• Sterile Processing Certification required (CRCST or CSPDT) within 18 months of employment.
• Must have knowledge of hospital equipment, supplies, surgical instrumentation, and medical terminology.
• Must be able to appropriately and effectively react to requests for emergency supplies.
• BLS current or within 60 days of hire
