Job summary

Actalent in Portland, OR is seeking an experienced OR Surgical Technician to support Labor & Delivery on a day shift (7:00 AM–7:30 PM) as a contract-to-hire role. The position requires 3x12 hour days and onsite work.

You will assist during C-sections and procedures, maintain sterile field, pass instruments, and collaborate with the OR team to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes. NBSTSA/ABHES certification and BLS are required.

Qualifications

Surgical Technician OR (Full Time, DayShift) - 3x 12hour Shifts

We are seeking experienced OR Surgical Technicians to support a high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit. This role is ideal for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about supporting safe and effective surgical care.

Schedule: Day Shift | 7:00 AM 7:30 PM | .9FTE

Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during C-sections and other Labor & Delivery procedures
• Maintain a sterile surgical field and aseptic technique
• Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies during surgery
• Prepare and organize surgical instruments and equipment
• Collaborate with the OR team to ensure positive patient outcomes
• Support patient safety and infection-control standards
• Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
• Provide direct patient care within the surgical environment

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the CAAHEP or ABHES and holds an active certification by the NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT.
• Two years experience as an OR Surgical Technician.
• Experience in a hospital setting required (internship/externship experience alone will not be considered)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation
• Ability to work days, weekends, and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a high-volume OR environment
• Surgical Technologist certification (CST)
• Familiarity with EMR systems
• Bilingual skills are a plus

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
