Job summary

Via Christi, Manhattan, Kansas, seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to join Ascension Health's team. Rotating full-time schedule with responsibilities in instrument inspection, decontamination, and set assembly.

This role supports patient care through sterile processing excellence; requires HS diploma or equivalent and preferred IA HCSMM or CBSPD credentials; benefits include tuition discounts with academic partnership.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable job experience required.
• Licensure/certification in Sterile Processing preferred (IAHCSMM or CBSPD).

Responsibilities

• Inspect, assemble and evaluate all surgical instruments and instrument sets for quality and completeness.
• Operate sterilization equipment and ensure cleanliness and proper functioning of instruments and containers.
• Perform decontamination of soiled instruments and equipment according to IFUs and established protocols.
• Correct instrument sets according to current standards and tracking systems.
• Maintain inventory levels to ensure availability for case carts.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Inspect, assembles and evaluate all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determines need for repair/replacement, validates completeness of set, and facilitates effective sterilization.




• Operate sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.




• Perform decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.




• Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.




• Maintain proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) Preferred.




• Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) Preferred.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.




• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
