Job summary

Intermountain Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for St James Hospital in Butte, MT. The role supports sterilization, decontamination, assembly, packaging, and tracking of instruments and equipment to ensure timely delivery to the Operating Room.

You will operate sterilization equipment, maintain records, and assist with labeling and inventory. Weekend/on-call rotations, on-site work, and ongoing training are included.

Job Description:This position is responsible for ensuring that all surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed and tracked in a quality / timely manner throughout the hospital. Will train to perform these duties independently and without close supervision.Schedule: Full-timeBenefits EligibleMonday-Friday 1pm-930pm with rotated weekday and weekend on-callScope1.Operates and monitors sterilization equipment.2. Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination.3. Sterilizes, disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments and transports sterilized items to the floor.4. Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment. Properly checks power equipment.5. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking including following labeling processes, use of engraver, reporting and documenting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays.6. Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with the Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse including order status, back orders and/or changes.7. Responds to emergency situations by insuring all emergency, trauma and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to the Operating Room in a timely manner.8. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations.9. Provides on the job training on the job training (OJT) to newly hired associates in the department.10. Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.11. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
