Job summary

Intermountain Healthcare in St. George, UT, seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to disassemble, decontaminate, and sterilize instruments for multiple surgical specialties.

You’ll assemble, wrap, label, and verify sterility while maintaining accurate records and preparing supplies for procedures. You will work with the Sterile Processing team to ensure equipment readiness, perform routine quality checks, and communicate with caregivers and vendors.

Qualifications

  • Must attain Central Processing Certification from HSPA within one year of hire.
  • Level 2/3 require Central Processing Certification from HSPA.
  • CER or CIS Certification (Level 3) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, clean, decontaminate, and disinfect basic surgical instruments.
  • Assemble, wrap, contain, peel pack, label and sterilize instruments.
  • Print a needs list and collect items for surgical/medical procedures.
  • Issue sterile supplies to hospital areas or regional campuses.
  • Perform inventory duties and communicate with providers, caregivers, and vendors.

Job Description:This position is responsible for ensuring that all basic surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed and tracked in a quality / timely manner throughout the hospital. Will begin to train and validate competencies to allow perform of these duties independently and without close supervision. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations, promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards, performs other duties as assigned.
