Job summary

Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska is seeking a full-time Sterile Processing Technician to support our rural regional hospital. The role involves cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing instruments and packs for inpatient nursing and clinics, and distributing supplies across service areas.

Qualifications

  • CRCST certification preferred.
  • Experience with sterilization procedures and inventory control in a surgical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments, trays and packs.
  • Restock and distribute instruments, reusable medical devices and supplies to service areas.
  • Process operating room instruments and assist in in-services and training as needed.

We offer a broad range of employment opportunities and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the health of people in the region.**Position Summary:** Under direct/indirect supervision the Sterile Processing Technician will receive on-the-job training, follow approved infection control, quality assurance and departmental policies and procedures. Proficiently collects, cleans, decontaminates, disinfects, and/or sterilizes surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment for Inpatient Nursing and Clinics. Inventories, restocks, and distributes instruments, reusable medical equipment and medical supplies to all service areas. Sterile Processing Technician works a majority of time in a Sterile Processing Department cleaning, preparing, assembling, sterilizing, preparing packs, instruments, and trays for all service areas. Sterile Processing Technician will process operating room instruments and may assist in departmental in-services and training.**Position Qualifications:** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.Minimum Experience: Work experience sufficient to have acquired and developed the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the functions of the position.License, Certification, Registration: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred.Equipment/Tools: Distinguish all equipment dealt with in Surgery preferred.Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Sterilization procedures, equipment, instruments, wrapping and repackaging of instruments.Inventory system and maintain adequate inventory levels of supplies and equipment within the surgical department.Association of peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN) precepts, JCAHO and OSHA requirements.
