Job summary

Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD seeks a Sterile Processing Technician Trainee to join our on-site SPD team. Under supervision, you will participate in decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of reusable instrumentation.

No prior experience required; a high school diploma is required. Certification through CBSPD, HSPA, or IAHCSMM must be obtained within two years of hire.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; healthcare or sterile processing exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support safe and effective patient care by ensuring instruments and equipment are processed according to established standards and procedures.

Summary: Under the supervision of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Manager or Team Leader, the Sterile Processing Technician Trainee participates in the decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, scanning, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instrumentation and equipment. This role supports safe and effective patient care by ensuring instruments and equipment are processed according to established standards and procedures. The trainee develops foundational knowledge and skills in sterile processing while maintaining quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

Work Location: On-site (Baltimore, MD)

Shift: Full-time, Evening Shift

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required

Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training: Must obtain certification through CBSPD, HSPA, or IAHCSMM within two (2) years of hire

Work Experience: No prior experience required; healthcare or sterile processing exposure preferred

Salary Range: Minimum 19.85/hour - Maximum 32.76/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
