Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure sterilization and assembly of surgical instruments for procedures. The role requires compliance with regulatory guidelines, accurate record-keeping, and teamwork.

The position is located at East Campus with variable shifts; hours and location will be discussed during final interviews. Prior experience and a Sterile Processing Tech Certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess the abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire.
• Must have two years of recent experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of effective inventory storage and retrieval practices.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the sterilization process of surgical instruments.
• Thorough knowledge of a variety of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiatives, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for all activities and competencies related to sterile processing, ensuring instruments are sterilized and assembled per guidelines.
• Assists with ordering and procuring equipment and instrumentation as needed.
• Supports compliance with record-keeping requirements and hospital policy.
