Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician (Per Diem) for the East Campus. The role supports sterilization and assembly of instruments for surgery and exams, with responsibilities including record keeping and equipment procurement.

Scheduling is days, 8-hour shifts, Mon-Sun, at East Campus Medical Center. Two years of related experience and BART or BLS at hire are required, with the option to obtain BART within six months.

Qualifications

• Must have BART or BLS at time of hire and commit to obtaining BART within six months.
• Two years of recent experience in a similar role and setting.
• Knowledge of inventory storage and retrieval practices.
• Understanding of sterilization processes for surgical instruments.
• Familiarity with various procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.
• Demonstrated initiative, prioritization, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Sterile processing of instrumentation and equipment for surgeries and exams.
• Ensure instruments are sterilized and assembled per guidelines and hospital policy.
• Maintain accurate record keeping for processing steps and procedures.
• Assist with ordering and procuring equipment and instrumentation as needed.
