Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia, seeks a Central Sterile Instrument Technician to decontaminate, assemble and sterilize instrument sets for Perioperative services. You will manage case carts, track inventory, and support physicians and OR staff in ensuring timely surgical readiness.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and certification as a Sterile Processing Technician. Prior sterile processing experience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment are

Qualifications

• Use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse.
• Answer telephones and transcribe messages.
• Communicate verbally, written and electronically with healthcare personnel, families and patients.

Responsibilities

• Printing, verifying and assembling the Perioperative Surgical schedule daily.
• Coordinate Perioperative room instrument and equipment needs using the surgical schedule.
• Coordinate substitutes for specific instrumentation.
• Coordinate room needs based on physician needs.
• Guide and assist Central Sterile and OR technicians in daily activities.
• Maintain sterilization records daily.
• Inspect, assemble and sterilize all surgical and house instrumentation.
• Restock case carts with supplies and equipment as indicated by surgeon cards.
• Restock Surgical Services including Outpatient Services and Labor & Delivery carts and top track.
• Stage and deliver case carts and equipment via clean cart lift or elevator.
• Inventory and maintain adequate levels of instrumentation and sterile supplies.
• Receive returned items and return to inventory.
• Respond to instrument and equipment requests from physicians.
• Coordinate solutions to instrumentation problems with Perioperative staff.
