Job summary

Connecticut Children’s is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, prepare, sterilize, distribute and control medical-surgical instruments for Perioperative services. The role includes case cart preparation and on-call responsibilities as scheduled.

The position requires knowledge of sterilization procedures, strong teamwork and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment, with emphasis on patient safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Policies and procedures related to sterilization, decontamination and surgical instruments.
• Medical terminology as it relates to surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination and high level disinfection of medical-surgical instrumentation and equipment.
• Inspects, assembles and sterilizes surgical instruments ensuring clean, functioning sets.
• Performs Steam and Sterrad sterilization per policies.
• Monitors and records sterilization/desinfection processes and recalls.
• Prepares and fills case carts with supplies and instruments.
