Job summary

UNC Lenoir Health Care is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to provide sterilization and reprocessing of reusable medical instruments across the hospital and community physicians' offices. Duties include maintaining cleanliness, operating sterilization equipment, monitoring tests, and compiling records to meet regulatory standards.

High school diploma and surgical technologist OR course required; CPR certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate. Graduate of approved operating room course for surgical technologist.
• Previous experience preferred but not required.
• CPR Certification
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, good manual dexterity, ability to work as a team member, ability to accept criticism, and willingness to learn and cooperate.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness and/or sterility of work area, equipment, and instruments according to department procedures.
• Operates various equipment utilized in the preparation of instrument sterilization.
• Monitors sterilization equipment daily to ensure accuracy of tests and procedures. Compiles, records, maintains and files information pertaining to all items received and processed.
• Compiles, records, maintains and files information pertaining to all items received and processed.
• Organizes own work activities to ensure their proper completion in a timely manner.
• Inventories work area for needed supplies.
• Transports instrument carts to destination.
• Maintains and provides sterile area and supplies.
