Job summary

Jupiter Medical Center in Florida seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to analyze operating room instrument needs and manage the decontamination and sterilization workflow. You will operate washers, decontaminators, steam sterilizers, and related equipment while maintaining sterility and following hospital policy.

Responsibilities include creating accurate case carts, managing inventory, and ensuring logs are properly filed.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Sterile Processing Certification is preferred.
• Prior hospital experience.
• Continue training on the job to prepare for courses or certification.

Responsibilities

• Analyze OR schedule to identify instrument needs.
• Remove soiled equipment from Patient Care Units, Surgery, LD, and ED if necessary.
• Assist with operation of all sterile processing equipment (washers, decontaminators, steam sterilizers, ultrasonics, etc.).
• Decontaminate instruments and equipment per hospital policy; PPE is required in the decontamination area.
• Maintain sterile core hygiene and stock per hospital policy; attend in-services and stay updated on new equipment/products.
• Create accurate and complete case carts using resource maps and pick tickets.
• Replace inventory and put away return supplies to maintain sterility.
• Maintain inventory and process instruments using instrument tracking software.
• Inspect and maintain instruments to ensure proper operation and sterility.
• Ensure sterility is established and maintained; keep sterilization logs.
