Job summary

Danbury Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech I to support sterile instrument processing across decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and storage. Certification must be achieved within 2 years of hire to meet CT state regulations; prior noncertified staff hired before 2016 may be grandfathered.

The role includes adherence to IFUs and safety practices. Responsibilities include instrument handling, PPE usage, and supervision under the Sterile Processing Supervisor, with opportunities

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; CSPT certification within 2 years of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of experience; CT state grandfathering option for pre-2016 hires.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize, retrieve, sort, decontaminate and clean instruments under supervision.
• Use PPE during duties and maintain personal safety.
• Maintain knowledge of care/handling instructions (IFUs) for instruments and equipment.
• Record and verify sterilizer tests and device functions.
• Assemble instrument sets and arrange loads per set lists.
• Monitor and report discrepancies or damaged items to supervisor.
• Follow AAMI standards for sterilization processes.
• Perform inventory control and distribution under supervision.
• Assist with special duties such as crash cart exchanges and sanitation.
