Qualified candidates have a nationally accredited central service exam and CRCST or CSPD certification, with a potential grand-fathering clause for prior Central Service Technician experience between 2011 and 2015.

Qualifications

• Successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam and holds one of the following credentials: CRCST, CSPDT; OR grand-fathering evidence of health care Central Service Technician employment for 1 year between 2011–2015.
• License/certification requirements: CRCST within 18 months of hire; CSPD within 18 months if Hard to Fill; Provisional Certification holders must obtain full certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Processing and supplying sterile goods and equipment to all hospital areas, including decontamination, gleaning, packing, sterilizing, storing and distribution.
• Maintain supplies used in sterilizing items for use in hospital or affiliated institutions.
• Report any supply shortages to the appropriate parties for replenishment.
• Distribute needed supplies and equipment throughout the hospital and affiliates as ordered.
• Follow department policies and procedures when distributing supplies and equipment.
• Keep assigned areas clean, organized, and fully stocked with necessary supplies.
• Collect and clean soiled equipment, maintain clean carts and shelves, and wear appropriate PPE.
• Transport medications from crash cart to pharmacy.

20 Hrs Weekly; Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 7am - 330pm

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for processing and supplying sterile goods and equipment to all areas within the hospital, including decontamination, gleaning, packing, sterilizing, storing, and distribution.
• Maintains appropriate supplies used in the process of sterilizing items for use in the hospital and any other institution or organization deemed appropriate by the administrative staff.
• Reports any supply not readily available to appropriate parties for replenishment.
• Distributes needed supplies and equipment throughout the hospital and affiliates as ordered.
• Follows all department policies and procedures when distributing supplies and equipment.
• Keeps assigned areas clean, organized, and fully stocked with necessary supplies.
• Collects and cleans soiled equipment and machines, and maintains clean carts and shelves on floors, utilizing appropriate protective equipment and attire.
• Transport medications from crash cart to pharmacy.

Minimum Qualifications

• Successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam and holds and maintains one of the following credentials:
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician credential
• Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician credential
• -OR-
• Grand-fathering Clause: Must provide evidence of employment or contract services as a Central Service Technician in a health care facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring between 1/1/2011 – 1/1/2015.

Required License/Certification Skills

• Central Service Technician certification required within 18 months of hire if does not meet grand-fathering requirements.
• Sterile Processing certification required within 18 months after employment if Hard to Fill clause is utilized
• Employees with Provisional Certification from IAHCSMM must obtain complete certification within 6 months from hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Emotional demands are moderate, focusing on hazard recognition, task accuracy, and adherence to safety standards. Environmental exposures may include extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, loud noise, and mechanical hazards. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and periodic physical examinations are often required.
