Job summary

Jupiter Medical Center is seeking a Sterile Processing professional to analyze OR instrument needs and manage decontamination and instrument tracking. The role requires cleaning, sterilization with Sterrad/Steris, PPE usage, and maintaining logs and inventory.

The ideal candidate has two years of hospital sterile processing experience, prior hospital exposure, and is prepared to pursue applicable certification through on-the-job training and courses.

Qualifications

• Two years of Sterile Processing Experience
• Prior hospital experience
• Continue training on the job to prepare for courses or certification
• High School Graduate or Equivalent (required)

Responsibilities

• Analyze OR schedule to identify instrument needs.
• Remove soiled equipment from Patient Care Units, Surgery, LD, and ED as needed.
• Operate sterile processing equipment (washers, decontaminators, steam sterilizers, ultrasonics, Sterrad/Steris) per manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain instrument decontamination per hospital policy and wear PPE in the decontamination area.
• Maintain sterile core hygiene and restock per policy; attend in-services to stay current with equipment.
• Create accurate case carts using resource maps and pick tickets; replace inventory when needed.
• Maintain inventory and process instruments using instrument tracking software.
• Inspect and maintain instruments to ensure proper function and sterility.
• Keep sterilization logs and records; participate in inventory management.
• Schedule sharpening of instruments and place orders for new products.
• Communicate with Operating Room Manager; adapt to emergencies and changes in workload.
• Demonstrate professionalism and teamwork; support diverse and inclusive work environment.
