Job summary

Duly Health Lombard is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to care for surgical instruments per AAMI standards in Lombard, IL. The role emphasizes maintaining inventory, issuing supplies for the OR, and performing sterilization testing and logs.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of instrument technician experience, a Certified Sterile Processing Certificate, and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Instrument technician experience, 2 years or equivalent experience.
• Certified Sterile Processing Certificate required.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and sterilization principles.
• Ability to read and interpret safety and procedural documents.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups; additional languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize time, equipment, and supplies for the OR based on the daily schedule.
• Use equipment accurately to prevent loss or damage of instruments.
• Ensure aseptic techniques per standards of practice.
• Assist in inventory management of supplies and equipment in instrument, decontamination, and sterile supply rooms.
• Perform daily testing and record sterilization logs; conduct load-specific biological testing as required.
• Follow manufacturer's IFU's for cleaning and sterilization of instruments.
• Perform cleaning, wrapping and sterilization using steam, Sterrad, Steris, and high-level disinfection with EPRs.
• Ensure instruments are accounted for upon receipt from the OR.
• Assist in turnover of OR rooms between cases; perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
