Job summary

Mercy Health in Defiance, OH is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician Non-Certified to join the Central Sterile team. Under general supervision you will clean, assemble, test, and process patient care instruments in accordance with policies and regulatory standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, readiness to obtain CRCST/HSPA/CBSPD within 2 years, ability to work under pressure, and strong attention to infection control.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CRCST, HSPA or CBSPD certification required within 2 years after hire.
• Recent experience in surgical setting preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and infection control practices.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination and cleaning of surgical instruments per policies.
• Applies detergents and disinfectants per procedures.
• Manages inventory and restocks supplies across facility areas.
• Records instrument tracking, surgery schedules and quality assurance data.
• Operates sterilizers and ensures aseptic packaging of sterile goods.
• Documents activities and reports variances impacting safety.
