Job summary

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, PC in North Syracuse, NY is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to prepare instrumentation for surgical procedures, decontaminate and sterilize sets, and maintain processing documentation. You will ensure instruments are cleaned, tested, and ready for the OR, while complying with NYSDOH, AORN, AAAHC, OSHA, CDC, and instrument manufacturer standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, CRCST certification, and 1–3 years of experience in sterile

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CRCST certification from IAHCSMM or CBSPD is required.
• 1–3 years of sterile processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Opens the processing department per policy and procedure.
• Tests instrument washers and autoclaves; documents results.
• Receives dirty instruments; disassembles and prepares for cleaning.
• Assembles instrument sets; loads and runs autoclave cycles.
• Performs biological testing on loads with implants and logs results.
• Operates processing equipment safely and accurately.
• Notifies Charge Nurse of equipment issues or failures.
• Documents biological test results and quality logs.
• Maintains records and upholds infection control standards.
• Collaborates with OR staff to ensure instruments are available.
• Performs other duties as needed.
