Job summary

Novant Health in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to prepare clean, sterile instruments for the operating rooms. You will work with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of trays and instrument sets.

This role requires attention to detail, adherence to sterilization standards, and ability to follow written instructions and terminology. Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with opportunities for process improvement.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
• Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and sterile/aseptic technique.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions to assemble instrument sets and trays.
• Ability to learn and understand medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Reviews surgical schedule to identify instrument needs.
• Disassembles, cleans, inspects, and reassembles instrument sets.
• Packages items for sterilization and maintains sterilizer records.
• Collaborates with OR staff and coordinators to ensure instrument availability.
• Keeps co-workers informed of updates and resolves unit issues.
