Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, clean, assemble, test and sterilize instruments for surgical procedures in a hospital SPD setting. You will prepare OR sets, manage instrument tracking, and ensure sterility of packages for multiple procedures.

The ideal candidate has 2 years of recent SPD experience, completed a recognized sterile processing program with 400 clinical hours, and holds related certification or surgical tech background.

Qualifications

• Two years of recent Sterile Processing Technician experience in an acute hospital OR or Surgical Technician with Sterile Processing experience.
• High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Sterile Processing program with 400 clinical hours or Surgical Technician program.

Responsibilities

• Fill orders from requesting departments.
• Perform equipment rounds and return soiled equipment to SPD; clean per manufacturers' recommendations and validate functionality; validate PM status for issued equipment.
• Answer phones.
• Inventory and restock supplies and specialty carts per department policy.
• Order specialty beds and other patient equipment per medical center practice.
• Disassemble, clean or decontaminate surgical instruments per manufacturers' recommendations including ultrasonic cleaning.
• Assemble, inspect, test, wrap and date all OR sets including specialty sets per department protocol.
• Operate all SPD equipment including steam/plasma sterilizers, automated endoscope reprocessors, incubators, heat sealers, instrument and cart washers.
• Use instrument/equipment tracking system and document tests/sterilizer records.
• Examine and maintain integrity of sterile packages.
• Prepare OR case carts according to preference cards.
• Promote and improve customer service to internal and external customers.
• Work collaboratively; perform other related duties as assigned.
