Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the Sterile Processing Department. You will follow infection control policies, prep, clean, sterilize instruments, assemble packs, and process inpatient operating room instruments.

The role emphasizes quality assurance, documentation, inventory, safety, and departmental training. Requires 1 year instrument processing experience, a High School Diploma/GED, and CS/SPD Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM).

Qualifications

• One year experience in instrument processing.
• CS/SPD Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM).
• High School Diploma/GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Infection Control - Standard Precautions: adhere to hand washing, workflow, sterility, and dress code.
• Quality Assurance Monitoring: validate and maintain disinfection/sterilization load parameters and records.
• Documentation: maintain daily QA and sterilization records per regulatory standards.
• Policies and Procedures: follow organizational and departmental policies.
• Staff Development: participate in orientation, meetings, and competency programs; assist in inservices and training.
• Decontamination Skills: wear PPE, clean and process reusable instrumentation; follow cleaning guidelines and load reprocessing of endoscopes when designated.
• Instrumentation Assembly: identify, inspect, and assemble instruments per specifications.
• Preparation and Packaging: select and prepare packaging materials per manufacturer guidelines.
• Principles of Sterilization: select method and verify parameters; load handling.
• Equipment and Supply Management: stock and distribute patient care equipment and maintain inventory.
• Workplace Safety: follow safety policies; participate in required safety training.
• Professionalism: communicate effectively; support teamwork; uphold schedules and procedures.
