Baptist Health Princeton Hospital in Birmingham is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech II for full-time day shifts. You will manage the sterilization workflow from decontamination to distribution, ensuring instrument integrity for surgical cases.

The role emphasizes adherence to infection control standards, record-keeping, and collaboration with SPD leadership to maintain safety and efficiency. Eligible candidates have a high school diploma and 1 year of sterile processing experience or SPD

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of experience in sterile processing or a minimum of nine months with certification or completion of SPD Readiness Course.

Responsibilities

• Maintains high professional and ethical standards in all sterilization activities.
• Applies knowledge of microbiology and infection control to processing of instruments and equipment.
• Possesses functional understanding of surgical instrumentation across at least one specialty.
• Performs decontamination of surgical instruments and related equipment.
• Sterilizes instrumentation, equipment and supplies as requested by customer departments.
• Keeps daily records and monitors chemical, mechanical, and biological processes.
• Assists in preceptorship and orientation of new staff.
• Distributes instrument trays according to surgery schedule and surgeon preferences.
• Collaborates with SPD Supervisor or Operations Specialist on unit activities.
• Advocates for safe sterilization methods to protect patients.
