Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II to decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute reusable instrumentation under supervision. You will operate autoclaves, hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, sonic washers, and Censitrac documentation in line with IFU guidelines.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Sterile Processing Program (or 3 years of related experience), plus 1 year in sterilization, plus basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program; if no completion, three years of Sterile Processing experience.
• Minimum 1 year Sterile Processing experience.
• Basic knowledge of Windows OS and computer systems.
• Ability to operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
• Ability to perform multiple, complex tasks.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and package instrument sets per protocols and IFU, ensure functionality and cleanliness.
• Disassemble instruments, decontaminate and load washers per IFU.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and document quality checks.
• Dispense sterile instrumentation to OR and sterile storage with inventory control.
• Maintain process flows and assist/train other staff as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment and coordinate with OR and external vendors.
• Prepare loads and ensure proper sterilization indicators.
• Adhere to SPD policies and SOPs at all times.
• Prepare OR case carts and monitor shortages; log information in Censitrac.
• May train Sterile Processing Technician I; perform other duties as assigned.
