Job summary

CHI Health Lakeside in West Omaha seeks a Sterile Processing Professional to safeguard patient safety by ensuring instruments are clean, sterile, and ready for surgery. You will decontaminate, prep, sterilize, and dispatch instruments with accuracy, while maintaining meticulous records and supporting ongoing instrument maintenance.

The role emphasizes high attention to detail and adherence to infection control standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required at hire.
  • Graduate of Sterile Processing Program or 1+ year experience.
  • Certificate: Central Service Technician or Sterile Processing certifications.
  • Preferred: 2–5 years in sterile processing or surgical tech.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, inspect, process, assemble and sterilize instruments per procedures and IFU.
  • Follow Universal Precautions and OSHA requirements at all times.
  • Perform daily/weekly testing and logging of equipment such as washers, sonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of processes and results.
  • Assist with instrument maintenance and set assembly using checklists.
  • Adhere to instrument tracking and packaging procedures.

Job description

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Sterile Processing Professional, you will be a critical guardian of patient safety, ensuring surgical teams receive correct, fully functional, and sterile instrumentation.

Every day, you will expertly perform decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch with efficiency, expertise, and accuracy, delivering instruments with resourcefulness, determination, courtesy, and professionalism. You will continuously expand your knowledge of standards and procedures for surgical instrumentation.

To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a rigorous commitment to infection control, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes with a professional demeanor.

  • Responsible for cleaning, inspecting, processing, assembling, and sterilizing all instruments and equipment following Policy/Procedure, Industry Standards, and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFU).
  • Practices Universal Precautions and follows OSHA requirements at all times.
  • Responsible for performing daily/weekly testing and logging of all mechanical equipment, including but not limited to Mechanical Washers, Sonic, and all Sterilizers.
  • Maintains accurate and legible documentation.
  • Assists with the routine maintenance of instrumentation by identifying items needing repair.
  • Follows procedure for set assembly utilizing Instrument Checklists and/or Instrument Tracking where available.
Job Requirements
  • High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or

  • Graduation from Sterile Processing Program, or Minimum 1 year experience, upon hire and
  • Certified and Registered Central Service Technician, upon hire or
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Supervisor, upon hire or
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Tech, upon hire or
  • Cert Sterile Processing Dist Tech, upon hire
Preferred
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Sterile Processing or Surgical Technician.

Pay Range
