Job summary

CommonSpirit Health in Pasadena, TX is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech to support instrument processing, decontamination, assembly and sterilization for surgical procedures. You will handle restocking, scoring and packaging of instruments for sterilization, and ensure equipment is prepared for use in patient care areas.

The role requires completing a Sterile Processing Tech or Surgical Tech program or having one year of related experience, with a focus on safety, hygiene and regulatory

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of applicable experience, or successful completion of a Sterile Processing Tech or Surgical Tech program from an accredited school.

Responsibilities

• Performs instrument processing activities, decontamination, assembly, sterilization and restocking of instruments to remote locations to ensure availability to areas providing direct patient care.
• Prepare work area at beginning of shift; maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
• Transports and decontaminates all soiled instrumentation and equipment to a state of cleanliness and disinfection and disposes of infectious items according to procedures.
• Maintains customer focus and service responsiveness by answering calls and responding to emergency requests.
• Assures accuracy in assembly and packaging of all necessary instrumentation, special trays and equipment for sterilization.
• Inspects and lubricates all instruments and power equipment following manufacturer recommendations.
• Performs steam, sterilization, and documentation activities; operates department equipment per manufacturer recommendations.
• Prioritizes work activities to ensure instruments are available for scheduled surgical procedures.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

Performs instrument processing activities, decontamination, assembly, sterilization and restocking of instruments to remote locations to ensure availability to areas providing direct patient care.

• Prepare work area at beginning of shift
• Maintains a clean and safe work area at all times
• Participates in routine cleaning activities (i.. sterilizers, surface areas, storage carts, etc.)
• Transports and decontaminates all soiled instrumentation and equipment to a state of cleanliness and disinfection and disposes of all infectious items according to established procedures
• Maintains customer focus and service responsiveness by answering incoming calls in a timely manner and responding immediately to emergency requests
• Assures accuracy in the assembly and packaging of all necessary instrumentation, special trays and equipment for sterilization.

Inspects and lubricates all instruments and power equipment according to manufacture recommendations to insure cleanliness and proper working order.

• Performs all steam, sterrad and ethylene oxide sterilization activities insuring cycle and documentation accuracy
• Operates all department equipment according to manufacture recommendations
• Prioritizes work activities to insure all instruments are available as needed for scheduled surgical procedures on a daily basis
• Follows established policies and procedures in the performance of all work activities in compliance with regulatory agency requirements

Job Requirements

Required Education and Experience

• High School Diploma/GED *One (1) Year of applicable experience, determined by facility –OR-*Successful completion of a Sterile Processing Tech or Surgical Tech Program from an accredited school.

Pay Range

$16.50- $25.57/hour
