Job summary

CHI Health Lakeside in Omaha, NE, seeks a Sterile Processing Professional to ensure the safety of patients by decontaminating, prepping and packing, sterilizing, and dispatching instruments with accuracy. You will uphold infection control standards and continuously improve knowledge of sterile techniques and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School graduation or GED required at hire.
  • Graduate of a Sterile Processing Program or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications in sterile processing are required.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning, inspecting, processing, assembling, and sterilizing instruments per procedures and IFUs.
  • Follow Universal Precautions and OSHA requirements.
  • Perform daily/weekly testing and logging of equipment (washers, sonic, sterilizers).
  • Maintain accurate documentation.
  • Assist with routine instrument maintenance and repair needs.
  • Use instrument checklists and tracking when available.

Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Sterile Processing Professional, you will be a critical guardian of patient safety, ensuring surgical teams receive correct, fully functional, and sterile instrumentation. Every day, you will expertly perform decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch with efficiency, expertise, and accuracy, delivering instruments with resourcefulness, determination, courtesy, and professionalism. You will continuously expand your knowledge of standards and procedures for surgical instrumentation. To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a rigorous commitment to infection control, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes with a professional demeanor.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for cleaning, inspecting, processing, assembling, and sterilization of all instruments and equipment following Policy/Procedure, Industry Standards, and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFU).
  • Practices Universal Precautions and follows OSHA requirements at all times.
  • Responsible for performing daily and weekly testing and logging of all mechanical equipment, including but not limited to Mechanical Washers, Sonic, and all Sterilizers.
  • Maintains accurate and legible documentation.
  • Assists with the routine maintenance of instrumentation by identifying items needing repair.
  • Follows procedure for set assembly utilizing Instrument Checklists and/or Instrument Tracking where available.
Job Requirements
  • High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire.
  • High School GED General Studies, upon hire.
  • Graduation from Sterile Processing Program, or minimum 1 year experience, upon hire.
  • Certified and Registered Central Service Technician, upon hire.
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Supervisor, upon hire.
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician, upon hire.
  • Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician, upon hire.
Preferred
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Sterile Processing or Surgical Technician.

Pay Range

$17.24 – $24.35 per hour
