UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking an entry-level Sterile Processing Technician to learn cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and safe handling of instruments under guidance of experienced staff.

This role emphasizes accuracy, adherence to SOPs, and ongoing learning; you will gain experience across decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and record-keeping while preparing instruments for case carts. The position supports full-time hours with day-evening rotations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Central Sterile certification with HSPA or CBSPD within 1.5 years.
• 1 year of central sterile processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow SOPs for sterile processing tasks and safety protocols.
• Work in decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case pick and high-level disinfection.
• Unload and prepare instruments following SOPs and manufacturer instructions.
• Safely handle instruments and report damaged items to supervision.
• Learn sterilization methods for different items and ensure correct packaging.
• Maintain sterilization records, label items, and ensure safety compliance.
• Operate equipment (washer, ultrasonic, sterilizer) under guidance.
• Participate in biological monitoring/testing and escalate issues as needed.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Central Sterile certification (HSPA/CBSPD) within 1.5 years
