Job summary

University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking an entry-level Sterile Processing Technician to learn and perform decontamination, sterilization, and safe handling of medical equipment. The role requires adherence to safety procedures and SOPs, with supervision from experienced staff to ensure compliance.

The position supports learning across decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case picking, and high level disinfection, with an evening shift 2:00pm-10:30pm,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Central Sterile certification must be achieved within 18 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow SOPs for sterile processing tasks.
• Assist in decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case pick and high level disinfection under supervision.
• Prepare instruments for decontamination per departmental procedures and manufacturers' instructions.
• Report damaged or malfunctioning items to supervisor and remove them from service.
• Learn proper sterilization methods and ensure correct packaging and labeling.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Central Sterile certification with Healthcare Processing Association (HSPA) or CBSPD equivalent within 1-1/2 Yrs
