Job summary

Banner Health's UniMed Center Phoenix campus is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician I to join the SPD team. This role supports decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and packaging of surgical instruments, ensuring readiness for operative procedures.

The position works with OR staff and other departments to maintain inventory and compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate will be CRCST certified (or eligible) with at least 1 year of SPD experience, strong attention to detail,

Qualifications

• CRCST certification or eligible to obtain it.
• Minimum 1 year of Sterile Processing experience.
• Knowledge of decontamination, sterilization, and instrument tracking.

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, assembly, and packaging of surgical instruments.
• Maintain sterilization logs and quality assurance records.
• Read and interpret surgical schedules and medical terminology to prioritize instrument readiness.
• Operate sterilizers and other SPD equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
• Ensure instrument tracking and proper handling of surgery-owned vs loaner devices.
• Communicate effectively with OR staff and demonstrate professional standards.
