Job summary

UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, process, sterilize, and assemble complex instrument sets. You will support five operating rooms with decontamination and reprocessing work in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers day shift, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. Applicants should have a high school diploma and 1–2 years of relevant processing experience, with opportunities for growth within UW

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 1-2 years of experience in processing complex trays of surgical instruments recommended.
• Equivalent education/experience may be considered in lieu of formal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and transport soiled instruments and case carts to decontamination area for reprocessing.
• Assemble and set up patient equipment; test and adjust equipment as needed.
• Load and operate cart washer to clean case carts and related items.
• Perform sterilizer function tests using vacuum, chemical and biological indicators.
• Load autoclave carts and sterilize instrument sets and respiratory equipment.
• Maintain inventory shelves of processed items and manage expiration dates.
• Decontaminate all soiled instruments according to procedures and policy.
