Job summary

Children's Health in Dallas is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to maintain cleanliness, sterilization, and proper functioning of surgical instruments and related equipment.

You will decontaminate, assemble instrument sets, differentiate sterilization methods, and support department efficiency while ensuring safe, aseptic handling. This on-site role requires attention to detail and teamwork within the Sterile Processing Distribution department.

Qualifications

  • Maintain cleanliness, sterilization, and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Adhere to sterile processing standards and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate and clean equipment and instrumentation; ensure sterility.
  • Evaluate equipment function; report malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
  • Assemble instrument sets from count sheets and minimize waste.
  • Prepare and package single instrument items as required.
  • Differentiate steam vs. gas sterilization requirements.
  • Store, deliver, and manage sterile supplies using aseptic methods.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and practice.
  • Operate and troubleshoot sterilization equipment as needed.
  • Perform messenger duties for department needs.
  • Suggest process improvements to improve efficiency.

Shift: 2:30PM - 11:00PM (Wednesday & Friday) & 6:00PM-7:30AM (Friday & Saturday)

Summary

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sterilization, and functioning of equipment and instrumentation.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for decontamination and cleaning of all equipment and instrumentation; ensures cleanliness and sterility of all instruments.
  • Evaluates functioning of equipment; reports malfunction of equipment and instrumentation and follows through to ensure appropriate repairs are complete and maintenance performed.
  • Accurately assembles instrument sets based on established count sheets; effectively uses materials and supplies to assemble instrument sets and minimize waste.
  • Appropriately prepares and packages single instrument items.
  • Differentiates items that require steam versus gas sterilization.
  • Stores, delivers, and manages sterile supplies using aseptic techniques.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe environment and work habits.
  • Performs sterilization process duties independently; operates and troubleshoots sterilization equipment.
  • Performs messenger duties as department needs require.
  • Maintains awareness and makes appropriate recommendations of possible process modifications that would enhance department efficiency.
Work Experience
  • At least 1 year Central Sterile Processing experience or Central Sterile Processing training strongly preferred
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
Licenses And Certifications
  • Central Sterile Processing Certification Upon Hire preferred
  • Central Sterile Processing Certification 1 Year required
