Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technologist to handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures. You will support the circulating nurse and perform related patient care duties in an age-appropriate manner.

• Externship hours completed for certification.
• Knowledge of wide variety of instrumentation used in the operating room throughout the hospital.
• Ability to operate all OR sterilization and processing equipment to prioritize and organize and to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Processes decontaminated medical devices as they are received, according to established priorities, medical device IFU’s and best practices.
• Receives instruments from the decontamination area and processes appropriately.
• Performs physical and environmental duties as designated on a routine daily basis, including cleaning workspace/instrument room/cabinets, disposing of biohazards waste, monitoring sterilizers, and checking environmental monitors.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including other essential instrument room duties.
• As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Job description

We are searching for aCertified Sterile Processing Technologist-- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure, assisting the physician while performing related patient care duties in an age-appropriate manner as assigned by the circulating nurse (RN).

Preferred Education

• CSPDT - Cert-Sterile Proc & Dist Tech by the Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician issued by The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution
