Job summary

Utah Surgical Center in West Valley City, UT is seeking a Certified Instrument/Sterile Processing Tech to ensure sterilization and readiness of instruments for patient care under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and applying proper sterilization methods, logging cycles, and reporting deviations to the OR Coordinator/Nurse Manager. Requires 1 year of experience and a valid BCLS certification, with knowledge of AAMI/ASHCSP standards.

Qualifications

• One year experience in surgical instrument sterilization processing.
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment.
• Knowledge of AAMI and ASHCSP standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
• Ensure sanitary environment for patient care.
• Use appropriate sterilization methods per instrument type and manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain log of test loads and cycles; perform biological testing as needed.
• Record deviations and report to OR Coordinator or Nurse Manager.
• Maintain equipment out-for-repair log.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Certified Instrument/Sterile Processing Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will contribute to the company’s mission and vision by assisting with the care of patients by providing properly cleaned, sterilized, highly disinfected instruments and supplies.

What you will do in this role:

• You will demonstrate knowledge related to maintenance, cleanliness, and sterilizatio n of instruments and equipment
• You will maintain a sanitary environment fo r the provision of patient care
• You will demonstrate awareness of appropriate sterilization method s needed for different instruments in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
• You will demonstrate knowledge of high-level disinfection and sterili zation of endoscopy equipment.
• You will maintain a daily log, testing for efficacy of disinfe cting solution with each cycle and perform biol ogical testing
• You will monitorand record all test loads and sterilization cycles while documenting any deviation from normal functioning to OR Coordinator and/or Nurse Manager
• You will maintain an accurate l og for equipment out for repair

Qualifications for this role:

• One year experience in surgical inst rument sterilization processing, preferably in an acute care or ambula tory surgery center environment
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment***online certification not acceptable
• Certification and knowledge of standards and recommended guidelines of Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and American Society of Healthcare Central Service Professionals (ASHCSP)
