EvergreenHealth Monroe, a small semi-rural acute care hospital has afantastic opportunity for an experienced Decontamination & Sterilization Certified Technician to fill a position in our Decontamination and Sterilization Unit, staffed with 24/7 board-certified Internal Medicine Hospitalists.The hospital seeks a Surgical Technologistto help provide staffing coverage in our Surgical Services department which includes 3 OR Suites, 2 Procedure Rooms and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) seeing primarily orthopedic and general surgery cases. This is a day shift position, working 8-hour shifts with minimal standby and on-call rotation requirements, which will be further clarified for candidates during the interview process.

Adheres to Hospital’s Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care. Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior-based expression of the hospital’s Standards of Excellence principles. Adheres to all State and Federal Regulations pertaining to exposure of hazardous materials. Assumes responsibility for cleaning, decontaminating, sterilization and delivery of re-usable instruments, sets, and linen packs. Ensures adequate sterile supply levels are maintained in the operating room and other units. Assumes responsibility for the assembly, inspection and maintenance of all sterile and clean supplies used throughout the hospital setting, and has working knowledge of sterilization, sterile techniques, infection control and microbiology. Assumes responsibility for staffing and assists CNM with performance evaluations of other D & S techs.Performs other duties as assigned.

High school graduate and a minimum of two years previous work experience in Sterile Processing and Distribution or completion of a comparable training program.SPD certification preferred. Must know medical terminology and be able to communicate in the English language.
Ability to use steam autoclave washer – sterilizer and ultra sonic-washer. Knowledge of instruments/sets, medical supplies and equipment. Actively participates in Q.I.Use of personal protective equipment as appropriate, documentation of immunization/immunity against hepatitis B, and training related to blood borne pathogens is required.
Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease, and risk of physical injury from lifting heavy pans and operation of equipment.
Hospital staff, nursing staff medical staff, industry representatives, vendors, patients and visitors
Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to assist in moving patients. Must be able to lift instrument trays and equipment weighing 50 pounds. Must process visual, touch and manual dexterity.
