Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education/experience to meet competencies.
• High school diploma or GED preferred; related vocational/technical training valuable.
• 0–2 years in sterile processing preferred; entry level considered.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates skill in preparation of surgical instruments.
• Performs decontamination, assembly and sterilization of instrumentation per policy.
• Packages and labels items for correct sterilization method.
• Follows infection control guidelines and uses washers/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaner, and sterilizers properly.
• Operates sterilizers safely and documents loads per standards.
• Performs QA checks on equipment per guidelines.
• Pulls cases for next day and emergency procedures, completes required paperwork for charging and billing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
