Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Council Bluffs, IA is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to sort, decontaminate, disinfect, and prepare instruments and equipment for patient care. You will operate sterilizers, follow universal precautions, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced SPD.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years in Sterile Processing; strong verbal communication; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; shift 12:00pm–8:30pm with rotating weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 1–2 years of Sterile Processing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of decontamination of surgical instruments preferred.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend various written reports.

Responsibilities

• Sort, disassemble, clean and disinfect contaminated instruments and equipment.
• Prepare instrument sets/trays and reusable patient equipment per recipe sheets.
• Perform sterile linen processing and proper packaging of packs.
• Load and operate sterilizers per department procedures.
• Maintain accurate sterilization records and logs.
• Distribute instruments to departments in a timely manner (OR/OPS).
• Perform UV cleaning of used equipment and follow safety procedures.
