Job summary

University of California, San Francisco is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to decontaminate, assemble, and distribute surgical instrumentation, implants, supplies, and equipment for the OR, Nursing Units, and Ancillary Departments. The role requires maintaining documentation and operating sterilization and decontamination equipment.

You will work across UCSF Medical Center locations, demonstrating strong communication, safety awareness, and computer literacy to support patient care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• SPD certification from a recognized institution.
• General ability to operate sterilizers, washers and ultrasonic cleaners.
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems including Windows OS, keyboard and mouse operation.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of standard precautions for safety and prevention of cross contamination.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to understand, speak, and write English to communicate with staff.
• Ability to safely move heavy trays and equipment, lifting up to 50 pounds, and stand for prolonged periods.

Job Summary: Incumbent decontaminates, operationally checks, assembles, and distributes surgical instrumentation, implants, supplies, and equipment for the OR, Nursing Units, and Ancillary Departments. Incumbent maintains documentation related to these duties. Incumbent operates and maintains sterilization equipment, decontamination equipment, and computer systems related to these duties. This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Qualifications

• High School graduate, G.E.D. or equivalent
• Completion of an SPD certification training program from a recognized institution
• General ability to operate machinery including sterilizers, washers and ultrasonic cleaners
