Job summary

DMC Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit is seeking a Central Sterile Processing Technician to support our surgical services. Under general supervision, you will decontaminate, inspect, assemble, test, and sterilize instruments and equipment used throughout the facility.

You will assemble case carts and crash carts, restock supplies, and notify staff of low inventory, supporting a safe and efficient patient care environment during night shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.
• Completion of an accredited program in Central Services Processing, or six months of equivalent experience performing same duties in a Central Sterile Processing department.
• Certification through CBSPD or IAHCSMM required within 12 months of hire/job date (Certification requirement waived for current employees with hire date prior to 2001).

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates, sorts, inspects, tests, assembles, and sterilizes instruments, equipment, trays and other items used within the healthcare facility.
• Assembles case carts, crash carts and other emergency carts per established pick lists.
• Restocks unused, returned supplies and notifies appropriate personnel of low or stocked out supplies.
• Restocks nursing areas via requisition or pick list.
