Job summary

Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY seeks a Surgical Instrument Technician Supervisor to assist in daily department operations and the care and assembly of surgical instruments. You will supervise staff, orient and train new hires, and handle staff scheduling while participating in quality initiatives.

The role requires an Associate's degree and at least 3 years of surgical technology or sterile processing experience, with preference for candidates who hold sterile processing technician

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree and 3 years Surgical Technology or Sterile Processing in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation/equipment and sterile processing essential.
• Previous supervisory and administrative experience required.
• Certification as a sterile processing technician strongly preferred; if not certified, obtain within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily operation of the department and care/assembly of surgical instruments.
• Supervise and evaluate subordinate staff; orient and train new staff.
• Schedule and assign staff work; participate in QA meetings and initiatives.
