Job Description

The Sterile Proc Tech performs a variety of indirect patient care activities, including:

1. Decontamination of surgical instruments
2. Sterilization of instruments, supplies, and equipment
3. Preparation of all necessary instruments and supplies for assembly on case carts
4. Maintaining a clean and safe environment
5. Observing strict patient confidentiality following all HIPAA rules and regulations
6. Learning, performing, and completing assignments during the transitional duty period

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire

Certification as a Registered Central Sterilization Technician (CRCST), Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or Surgical Tech certification (CST, TS-C, or CORST)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Continued Employment

Current CRCST, CSPDT, CST, TS-C, or CORST Certification

Experience REQUIRED

• Minimum of three (3) years sterile processing experience
• Previous experience with a personal computer

Experience PREFERRED

• One (1) year of supervisory, management, or leadership experience
• Previous work in an academic medical center environment

Education/training REQUIRED

• High school Diploma or equivalent

Education/training PREFERRED

• Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or related field
• Completion of the IAHCSMM curriculum

Shift: Mon - Fri, Evenings, 2pm to 10:30pm
