Job summary

UF Health Jacksonville is seeking a Sterile Processing Specialist to support safe patient care in a Level I trauma center. You will manage instrument tracking, ensure data accuracy, and coordinate with vendors and internal teams to maintain a ready supply.

This role handles maintenance scheduling, purchasing requisitions, quality monitoring of sterile supplies, and adherence to hospital and regulatory policies, with a Monday–Friday day shift in Jacksonville, FL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of sterile processing or equivalent OR experience.
• Central Service Certification (CBSPD or CRCST) required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain instrument tracking system by adding, changing and deleting data to ensure accuracy.
• Collect and report departmental metrics related to missing/broken instruments and repairs.
• Maintain par levels for backup instruments and reorders tray inventory.
• Track instrument utilization and identify needs for additional purchases.
• Submit purchase requisitions related to instruments and repairs.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal/external entities for instrument purchasing coordination.
• Coordinate weekly tray and instrument maintenance with contracted services.
• Monitor quality of sterile supplies and decontamination per policies and regulations.

Overview

Join the Sterile Processing team at UF Health Jacksonville and play a critical role in supporting safe, high-quality patient care within a nationally recognized Level I Trauma Center.

Responsibilities

In this role the Sterile Processing Specialist responsibilities are to maintain instrument tracking system by adding, changing and deleting data to ensure the system information is continuously accurate. Collect and report departmental metrics related to missing instruments, broken instrument, and instrument/scopes out for repair. Maintain par levels for backup instrument and reorders tray implant inventory. Track instrument utilization and turn over to identify the need for additional purchases. Submit all purchase requisitions related to instruments, and repairs. Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external entities, customers, vendors and other parties for the purpose of instrument purchasing coordination and implementation of use. Coordinate weekly tray and instrument maintenance with contracted services. Overall, support patient care by monitoring the quality of sterile supplies and the decontamination of equipment, per departmental policies/procedures and in accordance with hospital policies and governmental regulatory agencies.
