Job summary

Atlantic Health in Morristown, NJ seeks a Sterilization Technician to ensure accurate sterilization of medical instruments and supplies for surgeries and examinations. You will manage case carts, maintain inventory, and uphold infection control standards while working with an instrument tracking system.

The role requires reading and speaking English, physical endurance for standing and lifting, and adherence to hospital policies to support patient and staff safety.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of case cart preparation system, surgical instruments, and sterilization methods (Steam, HLD, hydrogen).
• Basic computer knowledge with an instrument tracking system.
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, perform heavy lifting of surgical sets, and move sterilization carts.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment to prepare, assemble, and sterilize instruments according to sterilization parameters.
• Selects cleaning agents and lubricants appropriately for instruments.
• Peel-packs and wraps instruments, inspects for use, function, and cleanliness.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to FSC policies and standards.
• Cleans, sets up, sterilizes, and distributes instruments as scheduled on each shift.
• Handles and disposes of infectious waste appropriately.
• Follows Standard Precautions and uses protective gear as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
