Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of SPD Readiness Course or related certification.
• National certification through HSPA or CBSPD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Has high professional and ethical standards in sterilization decisions.
• Applies microbiology and infection control knowledge to processing.
• Understands instrumentation function in the OR across at least one specialty.
• Proficient in decontamination and handling of varied equipment.
• Performs sterilization of instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Keeps daily records and monitors chemical, mechanical, and biological tests.
• Precepts and orients new team members.
• Distributes instrument trays per surgery schedule and surgeon preferences.
• Demonstrates understanding of instrumentation used in surgeries.
