Qualifications

• CRCST or CSPD Certification via HSPA or CBSPD is required.
• CIS issued by HSPA preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of surgical instruments and specialty surgical instruments is required.
• Basic computer skills and aptitude for electronics helpful for trouble shooting is required.
• Collaborates effectively with team members to achieve shared goals and support overall team performance.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates surgical instruments per manufacturer’s instructions or advised by CSPD Manager or Director.
• Inspects instruments after decontamination for cleanliness, intactness, and function.
• Assembles instrument trays ensuring sterility and accessibility; uses count sheets for accuracy.
• Proficient in interfacing with departmental tracking systems for processing functions.
• Packages or containerizes instrument sets per guidelines and standards.
• Loads sterilizer carts, ensuring items remain intact and properly stored.
• Performs daily sterilizer testing and monitors records for accuracy.
• Operates sterilizers following manufacturer instructions with proper biological monitoring.
• Documents load contents and updates tracking system; verifies cycle parameters.
• Unloads sterilizers and stores items according to instrument labels and tracking scans.
• Picks scheduled cases according to preference cards and surgical schedule.
• Supports daily operations and ensures department coverage across functions.
• Coordinates coverage when supervisor requests time off for continuity of leadership.
• Participates in rotating weekend on-call schedule per NEBH policies.
