Job summary

AdventHealth seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to manage instrument processing, maintain sterilization standards, and support a safe hospital environment in Florida. The role involves adherence to procedures, quality reporting, and collaboration with departments to ensure timely instrument availability.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of sterilization, instrumentation, and infection control, with at least 1+ year of experience and a willingness to work nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively.
• Knowledge of Sterilization Standards.
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of Surgical Instrumentation.
• Knowledge of infection control procedures.
• Familiarity with instrument tracking systems (preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal skills with compassion and respect.
• Capable of lifting 35 lbs. and prolonged standing.
• Willingness to learn and work nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Utilize instrument tracking system for reports and quality feedback.
• Maintain competency by attending continuing education on equipment.
• Communicate with vendors to ensure policy compliance.
• Identify and report environmental concerns to management.
• Ensure manufacturer instructions are followed for reprocessed equipment.
• Monitor sterilization practices and take corrective action.
• Keep records of sterilizer loads and equipment status.
• Ensure safe work practices and PPE use; respond to emergencies.
• Promote safe environment and infection control awareness.
• Coordinate with hospital departments to meet customer needs.
• Meet with leadership to discuss department needs and quality monitoring results.
